Prof. Sripati Sikder

Professor Sripati Sikder has been actively engaged in teaching and research at the Dept of Crop Physiology and Ecology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology (HSTU), Dinajpur, Bangladesh since January, 1995. He obtained B.Sc. Ag degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 1989 and completed PhD in 2008 from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Professor Sikder awarded three prestigious fellowships: Commonwealth Academic Fellowship at the University of Nottingham, UK; Chinese Academy of Sciences Fellowship at the Center for Agricultural Resources Research, Shijiazhuang, China and Endeavour Research Fellowship at the University of Sydney, Australia and successfully completed three post-doctoral advanced researches. He published over 50 research papers in different renowned national and international journals. His PhD thesis entitled ‘Physiological basis of heat tolerance in wheat’ is published (ISBN: 978-3-8443-9283-8) as a research book from LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany. He supervised 40 MS and 02 PhD students’ thesis. Professor Sikder is the life member of six national professional organizations: Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (ASB), Bangladesh Association of Advancement of Science (BAAS), Plant Breeding and Genetics Society of Bangladesh (PBGSB), Bangladesh Botanical Society (BBS), Seed Science Society of Bangladesh (SSSB) and Krishibid (Agriculturist) Institution of Bangladesh (KIB). He had actively participated more than 15 national and international conferences. Currently Professor Sikder is the Chairman of his Department and the Editor of the Journal of Science and Technology, an official journal of HSTU, Dinajpur, Bangladesh.
