 ABSTRACT

The present investigation was conducted during Kharif 2017-2018 at the Field Experimentation Centre of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (U.P), during the year of 2017-2018.  The experimental trial consisted of 8 treatment combinations comprising of 2 different varieties of chilli carried out in Randomized Block Design (factorial). The chilli varieties used were Suryamukhi and Chilli G-4. The treatments included T0= control, T1= Urea RDN, T2= 100% Vermicompost, T3= 50 % Urea and 50 % Vermicompost, T4 = 100% FYM, T5= 50% Urea and 50% FYM, T6 = 50 % Vermicompost and 50% FYM and T7 = % 50 Urea, 50 % Vermicompost and 50 % FYM all the organic manures were given according to the recommended dose of fertilizers. The data recorded for the parameters of plant height, number of branches, number of flowers, number of fruits, fresh fruit weight (gm.) and dry weight of fruits (gm.), at 30, 60, and 90 DAT. The overall best variety and treatment noticed on the basis of growth and yield attributing characters over control was [Chilli G-4] and T7 [% 50 Urea and 50 % Vermicompost and % 50 FYM] in combined treatment application and T2 [100 % vermicompost] in individual treatments. Hence treatment [T7 & T2] [% 50 Urea, 50 % Vermicompost and % 50 FYM, and100 % vermicompost] can be recommended to farmers for cultivation of chilli.

Key words: Urea, Vermicompost, FYM, Growth and seed yield parameters, Chilli.
