 ABSTRACT

The safe concentration of clove oil for aquaculture operations was determined by conducting bioassay tests in static waters. For this purpose five doses (0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, and 0.08 ppm) were applied in glass aquaria of 28 liters capacity. Applying these concentrations of clove oil for 24 and 48 hours, fish, C. carpio survival rate was compared with control. The estimated LC50 values for 24 and 48 hrs. were 0.062 and 0.057 ppm respectively. The second order polynomial regression analysis between fish survival and clove oil concentration proved that a dose of 0.02 ppm is safe for use in fish seed transportation.

Key words: Anesthetics, Aquaculture, Toxicity, Clove oil, Fry, Transportation, Static water.
