 ABSTRACT

The present work deals with the assessment of water quality parameters of Anchar lake to detect the physic-chemical nature of water at four different sites in order to access the physical properties and chemical nature of water and correlation between the parameters chosen for assessment at monthly intervals. In this study it is indicated that lake is highly polluted due to anthropogenic activity such as sewage effluent and waste material thrown by the peoples living at the periphery of the lake. The lake can be considered highly eutrophic as evidenced by its shallow depth (0.6-2.2), low transparency (0.19-0.75), and higher concentration of nitrates, phosphate and ammonia. The correlation among various parameters showed positive and negative trend.

Key words: Water, Physico-chemical parameters, Anchar lake, Correlation. Pollution load.
