 ABSTRACT

Phytochemicals are bioactive compounds obtained from the plants, widely used and applied in the traditional herbal medicines. These herbal medicines are the main natural source for the local people to cure the various diseases including the major diseases such as diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, neurologic disorders, HIV and cancer. The results of study revealed the natural curative agents with an extra-ordinary safety profile due to the presence of alkaloids, flavonoid and saponins. The medicinal plants are still considered as one of the peremptory parts of modern medicine. Therefore, the driven force of this research was to analyse the phytochemical activity of selected plant species against bacterial pathogens Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumonia. It was concluded that the plants screened in this research were rich in phytochemicals with significant pharmacological and medicinal applications.

Keywords: Phytochemical, Anti-microbial, Antioxidant, Saponin, Alkaloid, Flavonoid.
