ABSTRACT
The study was conducted to find out the influence of packaging and storage conditions on enzymatic activities of paddy. Paddy seeds were stored in different packaging materials viz; vacuum packed bags (C1), polythene bags (C2), cloth bags (C3) and gunny bags (C4) stored at room temperature (25 ± 2º C) and cold storage (4 ± 1º C) for a period of 18 months.Treatments involved packing of seeds with different packaging materials (vacuum packed bags, gunny, polythene and cloth bags) stored under both room temperature and cold storage. All the enzymes decreased with an increased storage period. Among the containers, lower enzymatic activities were observed in vacuum packed bags compared to polythene bags. But a higher enzymatic activity was observed in gunny bags followed by cloth bags.
